Filomarino Chapel is one of the oldest in the Cathedral of Naples, it already existed in first quarter of XIV century. Building of this chapel was financed by famous noble family of Filomarino. This family is one of the oldest in Naples and derives from Duke of Marino. His sons were known as "filii Marino" (sons of Marino) and this two words became their surname Filomarino. So, in first quarter of XIV century this chapel became the Filomarino family mausoleum. This chapel is going to be first one on the left hand side from main portal of cathedral. In the chapel you are going to find the sarcophagus with slab of Gregorio Filomarino († 1324), son of Marino Filomarino. He is shown in armors of first quarter of XIV century when majority of knights related on chainmail hauberks and hoses to protect their bodies. His tomb is on the right side of the chapel. On the left side you are going to find funeral slab of Trudella Filomarino († 1325) the daughter of Loffredo Filomarino († 1335) who was the Notable of the Court of the Duke of Calabria. Under her slab is the sarcophagus of one more Filomarino whose name I cannot read. On the upper lid is the figure of a knight in armor typical for first half of XIV century. He wears chainmail hauberk and coif but defense of his hands are reinforced with rearbraces made out of boiled leather also known in French as "cuir bouilli" and iron roundels are protecting his elbows. On the side panel of sarcophagus we can see another figure of kneeling knight is armor of first half of XIV century.
