Cappella Pappacoda
Cappella dei Pappacoda of the Chapel of Pappacoda was founded in 1415 by Artusio Pappacoda the Grand Seneschal of King of Naples Ladislaus I and councilor of the Angevin Royal Court. The interior has a rectangular plan and was completely renovated in 1772. It preserves funerary monuments of Pappacoda family of XV and XVI centuries. High altar in this chapel was made XVIII century. There are some traces of original late Gothic fresco inside. Marble portal with decorative and sculptural elements is attributed to Antonio Baboccio Piperno. Especially noticeable is the figure of Saint Michael on the highest cusp in the center. He is the commander of the Army of angels. Saint Michael and another angel are in excellent suits armor typical for the first half of XV century. Near the chapel you are going to see the bell tower, a rare example of the beginning of 1400s, it has retained its original features of Gothic-Durazzesche of Durazzo Gothic. Unfortunately I tried to visit this chapel several times but it was closed and I failed to find information on its working hours.
